Absent a meeting and the communication/understanding that comes from listening to all aspects of the other party’s communication, the parties cannot hope to solve the problem with legitimacy.
Each side will be left to tell itself a story about the situation and the motives (interests) of the other party(s).
In getting together there is greater assurance that the mix of communication elements needed for understanding can be achieved.
A meeting or relationship facilitator should be responsible for assisting the parties to achieve an appropriate balance of words, behavior and affect.
